Our Story

Rare Thing is a small independent jewellery studio and shop in Brighton, making thoughtful pieces in recycled precious metals. Every piece is designed and made by hand at the bench — from sketch to finished object — using traditional techniques, modern tools, and a slow, considered process that values quality over quantity. The shop is both a working studio and a space for people to connect with craft: to commission meaningful pieces, make their own jewellery in workshops, or simply discover something beautiful and lasting.

Alongside our work, you’ll find carefully chosen art and gifts from other independent makers who share that same spirit and are doing things in their own way.

Join us and make something special in one of our hands-on workshops. Choose from silver ring, hoop earrings, or bangle workshops — no experience needed. We’ll guide you through every step in a creative, inclusive, and friendly space right inside our Brighton shop. Come and learn traditional techniques and leave with a piece of jewellery that you have made yourself.

We also run wedding ring workshops where the couple can come and share a meaningful experience and make a memory to last a lifetime
